KDE Plasma 6.8, the "30th Anniversary Edition", came out on 14 October 2026, KDE's 30th birthday. It retires X11 sessions in favour of Wayland and adds a dwell clicker, better remote desktop and screen recording with audio. The latest bug-fix update is 6.8.2.

Wayland only
After 42 years of the X Window System, starting X11 sessions in Plasma is being retired.
Dwell clicker
A new accessibility feature clicks for you when the pointer stops moving, with no extra app needed.
Better remote desktop
Much better performance and quality from Plasma's built-in remote desktop server.
Recording with audio
Spectacle can record system audio and the microphone together, so you can narrate screen recordings.
